谈论自己的抑郁症极其困难。有时,即便你终于鼓起勇气开口倾诉,一切却依然没有改变。当向他人敞开心扉却毫无作用时,你很容易认为别人不在乎你,或者不相信你,但实际情况可能远比这复杂。下面我将解释一些你在乎的人没有认真对待你的抑郁症的原因。
1. 他们会忘记
你的朋友和家人没有以应有的方式重视你的抑郁症,原因之一就是……他们忘了。我知道你的抑郁症对你来说显而易见,并且影响着你生活的方方面面,但对于你身边的人来说,这只是一条看不见的信息。在他们眼中,你做着平时做的事,说着平时说的话,所以他们很容易忘记你内心其实正感觉快要溺毙。
我写过关于抑郁症的文章,也培训过治疗师如何应对抑郁症,但我自己有时也会忘记身边的人正处于抑郁状态。有时朋友迟迟不回我的消息,我忘了他们可能正在抑郁;表姐对某件事的反应让我感到意外时,我忘了她也许正深陷抑郁。甚至有一次,我正在写一篇关于如何更理解抑郁症的文章,却对妻子的某个回应发了火——而她那天早上刚刚告诉我她感到很抑郁!
我保证自己并不是一个特别健忘的人,但每个人有时都会忘事。人们往往会忘记那些尚未得到巩固的信息。1 这就是为什么你可能还记得老朋友童年时的家庭住址,却想不起他们现在在哪里工作。还没有在脑海中扎根的信息更容易被遗忘。你身边的人记得你的爱好、你们共同经历的有趣时光,当然还有你带给他们的感受。但无论你的抑郁症对你多么重要,对其他人来说,它很可能只是一个微不足道的细节——除非你持续地提醒他们。
2. 你没有在倾听
现在,你们中有些人情况恰恰相反——你让身边人都知道你的抑郁症,甚至可能谈论得太多了,但你仍然没有得到你希望的那种重视。他们没有按你期望的方式关注你,部分原因在于你没有倾听他们。
当一个人被倾听时,他也会更愿意倾听别人。这是心理治疗的精髓,但对任何对话都同样适用。当你倾诉自己的抑郁症状时,不要期望别人会为你铺上红毯、让你的痛苦独占所有关注——除非他们事先有所准备。因为你倾诉的对象不是一张白纸、不是WebMD,也不是AI聊天机器人,而是一个有着自己生活烦恼和内心痛苦的真实的人。他们没有抑郁,并不意味着他们没有在经历某些让他们难以全心理解你的事情。他们可能正面临感情破裂、工作问题,或者世间千万种疾病中的任何一种。
我知道这听起来可能不公平,尤其是因为抑郁症会带来极度的痛苦。如果一个人承受的痛苦明显多于另一个人,那么理应给予那个更受伤的人更多的时间和关注。如果一个人只是划破了手指,而他的朋友被毒蛇咬伤,当然应该先处理蛇伤。然而,心理上的痛苦却难以量化和比较。将抑郁症与生活中的其他问题相比较,就像要比较谁更痛苦——是正在分娩的女性,还是身患癌症奄奄一息的人?
